(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Feb. 25, 2013-Newworldson received a 2013 JUNO Award nomination, as announced by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) during a media conference held in Toronto on Tuesday. The band was recognized in the category of Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year for its April 2012 release, Rebel Transmission.

The JUNO nod marks Newworldson's fourth nomination in this category, having previously been acknowledged for Roots Revolution (2008), Salvation Station (2009), and Newworldson (2011). "We are honored and thrilled to once again be nominated in the Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year category," says Newworldson's Mark Rogers. "Congratulations to all the 2013 nominees!"

The JUNO Awards is Canada's premiere awards show, which encompasses a week-long celebration of Canadian music, culminating in The JUNO Awards Broadcast where Canadian artists are recognized for excellence of achievement in recorded music.

This year's winners will be declared during The 2013 JUNO Awards Broadcast airing Sunday, April 21 live on CTV from Regina's Brandt Centre. To view a complete list of 2013 JUNO Award nominees, go to www.junoawards.ca.

About Newworldson
Newworldson rocketed to international fame upon release of its label debut Salvation Station (2008), which reached No. 26 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and earned the band a guest spot on newsboys' 2007-2008 "GO" tour. Further recognition followed in 2010 with the success of its first hit single "There Is A Way," peaking at No. 2 on Christian AC radio and topping Christian radio charts in Canada, the UK and Australia.

Last year Newworldson released its fourth album, Rebel Transmission, to a Top 10 debut on iTunes' Christian & Gospel Top Albums chart in both the U.S. and Canada. The project turned out another Top 3 single with "Learning to be the Light" and received critical acclaim for "its willingness to take its music down musical avenues not commonly traveled by artists of faith" (crosswalk.com). Fans celebrated the album for its effortless fusion of pop, roots, and Motown era horn arrangements by the Chops Horns (Alicia Keys, The Police, The Rolling Stones).

The band has garnered four JUNO Award nominations for Gospel Album of the Year and 11 GMA Canada Covenant Awards. For more information on Newworldson, visit: www.newworldson.com.
